Earlier in the day, the Pakistani Army had violated ceasefire in the Sunderbani sector of Jammu Kashmir. An Indian Army soldier, Lance Naik Sandeep Thapa lost his life in the ceasefire violation in the Nowshera sector.

Pakistan Army also suffered heavy damage to their posts and casualties in the retaliatory action, a defense spokesperson said.

Ever since the Indian government scrapped provisions of Article 370 that granted a special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistani Army has regularly been violating ceasefire at different locations along the LoC.

According to sources, the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) have been put on a high alert along the LoC and the International Border in J&K to give a befitting punitive response to any misadventure by Pakistan.

The Army has been put on a high alert as terror camps in Kotli, Rawalkot, Bagh, and Muzzafrabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) area and bordering LoC have been reactivated with the support of Pakistani Army.

Sources said that there have been multiple attempts of ceasefire violations by the Pakistani side since Article 370 was scrapped from the Constitution. They added that several attempts have been made by militants to infiltrate into the Indian territory.

However, the Indian Army has successfully been pushing back the infiltrators and giving a befitting reply to these violations.

Earlier on Saturday, an Army soldier was killed after the Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by resorting to mortar shelling and small arms firing on forwarding posts and villages along the LoC in Rajouri district. In retaliation, the Indian Army destroyed Pakistani post.
