Rajouri admn rolls out mobile app for 90-plus voters

In a novel initiative, the Rajouri administration has launched a mobile app named ‘Sahulat’ (convenience) to reach out to voters in the age group of 90 years and above.

“The app is based on the Election Commission of India’s theme ‘Accessible elections’ to facilitate the elderly voters. A special initiative has been taken to encourage the senior citizens to participate in the elections,” said MA Asad, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner.sahulat election rajouri 1 mobile app

Voters will have to provide a few details on the app like name, age, distance of polling station, voting card number, Assembly constituency, etc.

“The voters can request for facilities such as the provision of a wheelchair, vehicle for transportation and a helper who will assist them during the voting,” he said.

The free app has been designed to assist old age voters only. It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

“There are two versions of the app — one for citizens where they can fill their requirements, and the second for the officers who can access and provide data regarding necessary arrangements,” said the DEO.

An officer from National Informatics Centre informed that the app required an Android phone, equipped with a good Internet connection. The operating system should be Android Jelly Bean and above.
