GOOD NEWS: Dogri compulsory from 1st to 8th

A Division Bench (DB) of State High Court on Monday directed for strictly implementing government order regarding teaching Dogri and some other regional languages of the state to end a long existing discrimination with them.rich culture - Dogri

The landmark decision came after a Public Interest Litigation was filed by politician and activist Vikram Malhotra.

From now on, students of 1st to 5th classes will be taught Dogri, Punjabi, Gojri, Bodhi, Kashmiri and Pahari as one of the compulsory subjects.

From 6th to 8th class, students will be taught Dogri, Punjabi, Kashmiri and Pahari as one of the compulsory subjects. And more uplifting fact is that the order will be put to action from the current academic session.

Dogri, Punjabi, Bodhi and Kashmiri have already been made one of 6 compulsory subjects for secondary school students already but this order is in conflict with CBSE guidelines on limit of school subjects to 5 only.

Therefore the matter needs to be considered by the state education department as to how to introduce regional languages in secondary school standards of the state.

Now the only concern should be to hire teachers well versed and educated in Dogri langauge and not some part time novice for khaanapurti.
