Popular news channel ABP News had conducted a nationwide contest among various Ramlilas of India. Entries were received from all over the country to be awarded as the Best Ramlila of India. Among the toppers, two were Ramlila committees from metro cities; but the top position was acquired by an unexpected entry from Basohli, Jammu.
Yes! Basohli Ramlila Committee which has been staging the story of Lord Rama since 1911 has been named as the best Ramlila of India.
Basohli Ramlila beat the famous Luv Kush Ramlila, of Delhi, which famously includes top actors and even politicians in their cast. The third position was gained by Malad Ramlila, Mumbai.
