Nine-day Navratra festival has begun. Bawe wali Mata and Vaishno Devi Katra are going to me prime centres of attraction. Apart from fasts and worshipping, there are some other events to watch out this Navratras in and around Jammu. Jammu Virasat has compiled a list for the readers:
Singing competition: An All India Devotional Song Competition will be conducted in Katra as usual. Winner would be given a prize of Rs 3,00,000 and a singing contract with Venus Records and Tapes Ltd. The event will witness daily performances by Hans Raj Hans, Nooran Sisters, Gulzar Lahoria and others.
Theatre performances by Natrang: A musical show conceptualized, scripted, devised, designed and directed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur will be performed from Thursday, September 21 onwards at 3 pm and will have 15 shows till September 28 at 3 pm and 6 pm daily during the Navratra Festival at Spiritual Growth Centre Katra.
Kalash Yatra: A Kalash yatra will be organized on 21st September, 2017 to mark the beginning of Navratras. Shoba Yatra will be organized for two days- on the inaugural day of Navratras and on the 8th day of the same. The Yatra will proceed from Asia Chowk.
Shenj: A shenj, or Indian style wrestling, competition is scheduled to be held at Stadium Katra.
In addition to these, there will be other evening culture programmes, light & sound shows organised by the Song and Drama Division of the Government of India.

“Ramlila” at Dewan Mandir, Jammu: You cannot enjoy Navratri celebrations in Jammu without witnessing the divine play of Lord Rama and the vanquishing of the enemy. Right? We recommend you let go of the TV set and get a live experience instead this time. The 156 years old practice, the religious Ram Leela is being organized on the eve of holy Navratras, in the premises of Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj (SDNS), Dewan Mandir, Jammu.
