His full name with all the epithets was Lieutenant-General His Highness Shriman Rajrajeshwar Maharajadhiraj Sri Sir Hari Singh Indar Mahindar Bahadur, Sipar-i-Sultanat, Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, GCSI, GCIE, GCVO.Lieutenant-General His Highness Shriman Rajrajeshwar Maharajadhiraj Sri Sir Hari Singh Indar Mahindar Bahadur, Sipar-i-Sultanat, Maharaja of Jammu and KashmirHe was the nephew of the preceding Maharaja of Jammu Kashmir General Raja Sir Amar Singh Jamwal.Maharaja of Jammu Kashmir General Raja Sir Amar Singh Jamwal

He made primary education compulsory in the state which made him a pioneer of education in the state.
